Artist Statement

I use paintbrushes, stencils, and chance/mechanical painting techniques to create the ephemeral and concrete forms and space in my paintings. The paint strokes and shapes entailed in the paintings do not simply describe form and space, but a transparent process of discovery and reinforcement as well. In other words, content is not repainted or manipulated for aesthetic purposes alone; instead, new forms are employed in juxtaposition with existing forms during the creative process. This allows me the opportunity to clarify and retain aspects of all the elements and time-frames in the paintings and preserve their significance and origin in an egalitarian manner.
